Key Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an accredited ORT or Surgical Technologist program.
  • Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Nursing-ORT, specifically within the surgical/OR setting.
  • Proficient in aseptic technique, instrument handling, and sterile field setup.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms for surgery, including equipment, supplies, and instrumentation.
  • Assist surgeons and nursing staff throughout procedures by passing instruments and maintaining the sterile field.
  • Ensure surgical sites remain free of infection risks by adhering to established policies and protocols.
  • Monitor and respond to the needs of the surgical team with a proactive and supportive mindset.
  • Maintain accurate records of instrument counts and specimen collection.
  • Uphold a commitment to patient safety and positive surgical outcomes.
  • Clean and restock operating rooms following procedures.
