Job Description

An essential member of the surgical team, this role supports surgeons throughout operations by preparing and providing instruments and equipment while maintaining a sterile field. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to patient care within the surgical services department.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, provide, and care for surgical instruments and equipment during procedures
  • Maintain strict sterile fields to ensure surgical safety
  • Assist surgical team members as needed throughout operations
  • Adhere to all infection control and safety protocols, including Universal Precautions
  • Communicate effectively with surgeons and clinical staff to anticipate needs

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; graduation from a Surgical Technology school preferred
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Surgical Technologist certification required
  • Minimum one year of experience in an acute care hospital operating room or instrument care setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of instrument care, sterilization procedures, and surgical support
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate clearly in English

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of heavy physical effort including standing, walking, and lifting for most of the day
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

Shift & Schedule:

  • Dayshift: 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
