Job Description

An experienced Surgical Technologist (CST) is needed to support surgical procedures in a well-equipped operating room environment in Fairbanks, AK. This full-time, contract position involves working primarily four 10-hour shifts with weekend, holiday, and on-call requirements as needed. The role demands precision, preparation, and adaptability to ensure smooth surgical operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare instruments and supplies for surgical procedures, ensuring functionality and completeness.
  • Review case carts for accuracy of instruments and supplies.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with biomedical staff when necessary.
  • Anticipate surgeon needs by passing instruments, retracting tissue, and operating equipment during surgery.
  • Maintain proficiency to scrub across all surgical specialties.
  • Plan surgical case needs by reviewing schedules in advance.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
  • Minimum of 2 years professional surgical tech experience.
  • Strong knowledge of operating room protocols and instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments.
