Job Description

An opportunity is available for a skilled Surgical First Assistant with at least one year of experience to support a busy operating room team. This contract position offers a dynamic environment where expertise in diverse surgical specialties will be essential. The role requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and dedication to patient care in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Location: Deltona, FL

Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeons during a variety of procedures including orthopedic, neurological, general surgery, robotic surgery, urology, and gynecology.
  • Maintain sterile field and ensure strict adherence to surgical protocols.
  • Manage surgical instruments and supplies efficiently.
  • Provide support on-call, covering weekdays, weekends, and holidays, with a minimum of 8 call days on weekdays and at least 1 weekend day monthly.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.
  • Float to nearby Advent Health North facilities when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of surgical assisting experience.
  • Current BLS certification and NBSTSA-CSFA certification required.
  • Experience working in a range of surgical specialties including ortho, neuro, general surgery, robotic, urology, and gynecology.
  • Ability to handle on-call demands as scheduled.
  • Willingness to wear personal scrubs as scrubs are not provided.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 36 hours per week
  • 12-hour day shifts
  • On-call responsibilities including weekends, holidays, and weekdays

This is a 13-week contract with consistent start dates every other Monday. The role is ideal for professionals ready to contribute their surgical expertise in an engaging clinical environment.
