Job Description
A rewarding opportunity is available for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) interested in behavioral health at a psychiatric hospital. This 26-week contract assignment is designed for reliable, compassionate professionals who can deliver safe, therapeutic care within a secure inpatient setting. You will play a vital role in supporting patients undergoing psychiatric and behavioral health treatment, working collaboratively with a dedicated clinical team.
Schedule:
- 3648 hours per week depending on unit needs
- Day shifts: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
- Night shifts: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
- Overtime may be available but is not guaranteed
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care under RN supervision
- Administer medications and treatments according to facility protocols
- Accurately monitor and document vital signs, behaviors, and changes in patient condition
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and inter-facility transfers
- Support the implementation of therapeutic group activities and individual care plans
- Uphold safety through adherence to behavioral health protocols and de-escalation techniques
- Communicate patient progress and concerns to nursing leaders and the interdisciplinary team
Qualifications:
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license meeting state requirements
- Experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, corrections, or long-term care settings is preferred
- Current BLS certification required
- Crisis intervention training (CPI, MOAB, or equivalent) preferred, or willingness to obtain before starting
- Ability to complete all background and drug screening requirements
