Job Description

This contract position is geared towards professionals with a background in cardiovascular operating room procedures, eager to support cardiac surgeries and enhance patient outcomes alongside other skilled clinicians.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with CVOR or equivalent credentials
  • Demonstrated experience assisting in cardiovascular surgical procedures
  • Proficient knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation
  • Familiarity with operating room protocols and patient safety standards
  • Strong communication abilities to effectively support surgeons, RNs, and team members
  • Attention to detail and ability to remain focused under pressure
  • Current BLS certification required

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support during cardiovascular surgeries, ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and up to standard
  • Prepare operating room prior to procedures, maintaining strict aseptic and sterile techniques
  • Anticipate needs of the surgical team and respond promptly to requests
  • Assist in the safe transfer and positioning of patients in the OR
  • Ensure accurate counts of sponges, instruments, and other materials
  • Facilitate proper care and handling of all surgical specimens
  • Contribute to post-operative room turnover and readiness for subsequent cases
