Job Description

A position for an experienced CVOR Technician is available within a leading healthcare setting in Durham, NC. This role requires a strong understanding of surgical technology and sterile processing, supporting complex operating room procedures while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing technical duties across various operating room specialties, ensuring adherence to accepted standards and aseptic techniques
  • Managing assembly, maintenance, and sterilization of specialty surgical instruments
  • Establishing and maintaining sterile fields and monitoring the surgical environment to prevent contamination
  • Assisting surgeons with instrument handling and patient positioning during procedures
  • Conducting surgical counts and managing discrepancies per policy
  • Preparing surgical specimens, labeling drugs and solutions accurately
  • Collaborating with the surgical team to plan case setup, ensuring availability of supplies and instruments
  • Responding promptly to surgical emergencies and supporting hospital emergency protocols
  • Inventory management of surgical supplies and equipment, reporting defective items promptly
  • Mentoring new team members and participating in peer evaluation and training
  • Operating and troubleshooting complex operating room equipment
  • Maintaining emergency carts and procedure trays fully stocked and ready for use

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician (CVOR Tech) or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques in surgical settings
  • Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Skilled in instrument handling, surgical counts, and case preparation
  • Commitment to patient safety and quality care standards
