Job Description

A skilled Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician is needed to provide expert technical support in various operating room specialty areas. This contract role requires meticulous attention to aseptic techniques and sterile field maintenance to ensure patient safety and surgical precision. The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of surgical instruments, proper handling, and sterilization processes while effectively collaborating with the surgical team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain aseptic technique and monitor for contamination or breaks, implementing corrective actions promptly
  • Perform surgical counts, reporting discrepancies and following protocol for incorrect counts
  • Prepare and organize instruments, supplies, and drapes for procedures according to physician preference lists
  • Assist the surgeon by understanding patient anatomy and procedural considerations
  • Position patients safely on the operating table with team support
  • Inventory, receive, and store surgical supplies under leadership direction
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to surgical emergencies following established emergency management plans
  • Mentor new hires and peers, participate in training and performance evaluations
  • Identify and report defective instruments and equipment, maintain and restock operating and procedure rooms
  • Assist registered nurses during intraoperative phases and contribute to research data collection as directed
  • Operate and troubleshoot complex operating room equipment and emergency carts, ensuring they are fully stocked and orderly

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Certification or proven experience as a CVOR technician or surgical technologist
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating room protocols and aseptic techniques
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with surgical instrumentation, surgical counts, and sterile field establishment
