Job Description

Advance your healthcare career by supporting individuals with acute mental health needs in a dynamic hospital environment. This contract role is ideal for those with backgrounds as Medical Assistants or Mental Health Assistantsand especially those pursuing a degree in psychology, with group home or mental health population experience, or a strong customer service focus and a passion for mental health care.

Available Shifts:

  • Evenings (3:00 pm 11:00 pm): 2 positions
  • Nights (11:00 pm 7:00 am): 4 positions
  • 40 hours per week; must be available to work 3 out of 4 weekends each month
  • Unit-based scheduling; flexibility to float as required

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience preferred, ideally with inpatient nursing
  • Reliability and adherence to attendance standards are essential
  • No LNA or CNA certification required
  • Experience as a Medical Assistant, Mental Health Assistant, or related customer service experience encouraged
  • Must be eligible to pass fit testing for N95 respirators (clean-shaven, per CDC guidelines)
  • Willingness to complete in-person CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training and pass requirement

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and a safe environment for patients experiencing acute mental illness
  • Collaborate with nursing and mental health teams to assist with patient care and daily activities
  • Participate in a comprehensive orientation program: 4 weeks blended classroom and unit-based training, with mentorship and competency assessments
  • Maintain high standards for patient safety and hospital policy compliance
