Job Description

Contribute to supportive mental health care with this contract opportunity for skilled professionals with backgrounds as Medical Assistants or Mental Health Assistants. This role is ideal for candidates eager to make a positive impact within an acute psychiatric hospital setting, providing direct care and support to patients experiencing mental illness.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Evening shift (3:00 pm 11:00 pm): 2 positions available
  • Night shift (11:00 pm 7:00 am): 4 positions available
  • 40-hour work week, including 3 out of 4 weekends per month
  • Schedule is unit-based, with floating to other units as needed

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of one years experience, preferably working in inpatient nursing environments
  • Previous work in group homes, direct experience with mental health populations, customer service, or candidates pursuing a psychology degree are strongly considered
  • No LNA or CNA certification required
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) in-class training required; successful completion of the physical portion and final exam is essential
  • Excellent reliability and attendance
  • All staff must be able to pass fit testing for N95 masks: adherence to CDC guidelines for facial hair is required

Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe and compassionate care to individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crises
  • Observe, document, and communicate changes in patient condition
  • Support patients stabilization and recovery through therapeutic engagement
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members
  • Participate in a 4-week orientation, blending classroom instruction and hands-on training
