Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Lab Technician for a 13-week travel contract in La Plata, Maryland. This is a great opportunity to work in a hospital-based laboratory with a strong team environment and diverse testing responsibilities.
Location: La Plata, MD
Start Date: 05/18/2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evenings, 5x8-hour shifts (15:00 23:30)
Schedule: Sunday through Saturday rotation
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend required
Holidays: Rotating holidays, required as scheduled
On-Call: None
Floating: Not required
Job Responsibilities:
Perform a wide range of laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and immunology
Handle specimen processing, accessioning, and reporting of accurate test results
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and analyzers
Review and interpret quality control data to ensure accuracy and compliance
Follow all safety protocols including proper specimen handling, labeling, and hazardous material procedures
Collaborate with clinical teams to support timely and accurate patient care
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of experience required
Graduate of an accredited clinical laboratory science program
Certification required: AMT or ASCP
ASCP-MLS or ASCP-MLT preferred
Epic experience required
Previous charge experience required
First-time travelers accepted
Work Environment:
Hospital-based clinical laboratory setting
Experience with automated instrumentation and manual testing procedures
Equipment may include systems such as Roche Cobas, Sysmex, and urinalysis analyzers
Additional Details:
Scrubs: Hunter green
Weekend shifts may rotate between day and evening schedules
