Job Description
Perform diagnostic ultrasound imaging in a dynamic free-standing emergency department environment located in the Charlotte metropolitan area. This contract opportunity is ideal for an Ultrasound Technologist with at least 2 years of experience, including general emergency department ultrasound skills. New graduates open to a first-time traveler assignment are encouraged to apply. The setting offers a focused caseload with approximately 5 studies performed daily in a fast-paced emergency care setting.
Key Qualifications:
- Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of ultrasound imaging experience; first-time travelers accepted
- Capability and willingness to learn and assist with general patient vitals, EKGs, and sitter duties during orientation
- Able to assist with patient transport and mobility when not engaged in imaging
Location Overview: This facility is a newly opened (December 2024) 10-bed free-standing emergency department offering comprehensive 24/7 imaging services including X-ray, CT, and ultrasound. Located in Charlotte, NC, the site provides convenient surface parking at no cost. The department experiences an average of 15 emergency visits daily with a diverse range of ED patients. The role includes opportunity to work across multiple shifts, including night shifts supporting both Ballantyne and Providence locations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality general ultrasound imaging for emergency department patients
- Support department workflow by assisting with rooming, obtaining vital signs, and patient transport
- Collaborate with CT and diagnostic teams to optimize patient care and throughput
- Maintain proficiency with Siemens Sequoia ultrasound equipment and Philips PACS imaging systems
- Utilize EPIC electronic medical records for documentation and order processing
Contract Information:
- Position type: Contract with potential for extension
- Travelers permanent address must be 50 miles outside of the home unit radius
- Orientation includes administrative onboarding and up to one week of departmental training
