Job Description
A specialized opportunity is available for a Radiologic Technologist skilled in computerized tomography (CT) to perform advanced imaging procedures under general supervision. This contract position is located in Detroit, MI, and involves working with modern radiological equipment to help diagnose patients accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and explain CT examination procedures to patients, ensuring they are comfortable and informed.
- Review clinical data and patient medical history to determine the most appropriate examination techniques.
- Set up and maintain the procedure room, replenishing supplies such as linens and necessary equipment.
- Analyze patient anatomical structure to correctly position equipment and manually control CT scanners for optimal image quality.
- Administer intravenous contrast media using power injectors, closely monitoring patients for reactions and providing immediate care if needed.
- Assist Radiologists with complex sterile diagnostic procedures including biopsies.
- Adhere to radiation safety principles, including patient shielding and dose reduction techniques.
- Manage imaging system workflows by resolving image exceptions in PACS and accurately indexing studies in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in medical records and radiology systems to support clinical and billing processes.
- Demonstrate team standards through effective communication, respect for diversity, and a positive attitude.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification and experience as a Radiologic Technologist with expertise in CT imaging.
- Strong knowledge of radiation protection and safety best practices.
- Proficiency with PACS and RIS imaging systems.
- Ability to administer contrast media and manage patient care during imaging procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and clinical teams.
