A specialized Interventional Radiology Technologist role is available in Mechanicsville, VA, offering an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care within a dynamic medical unit. This contract position focuses on performing complex imaging procedures that support diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute a variety of interventional radiology procedures, including biopsies, drain insertions, angiograms, and peripheral vascular studies
- Assist with specialized imaging requirements such as CT coronary scans, MRI monitoring, myelograms, and line placements
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team consisting of technologists, registered nurses, and coordinators to ensure seamless patient care
- Adhere to safety protocols while operating advanced imaging equipment, including the Discovery 740 IGS system
- Maintain accurate documentation within the Meditech EMR system to support clinical workflows
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Proven experience in critical care and procedural area settings is required to manage patient needs confidently
- Moderate sedation experience is essential for this role to safely assist with interventional procedures
- Preferred certifications and skills include PALS and prior Meditech EMR familiarity, which will be considered a strong advantage
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory for all candidates
- Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and a positive, team-oriented attitude are important attributes for success
Schedule and Work Environment:
- The unit operates primarily during day shifts with a team of 3-4 technologists, supported by nursing staff and coordinators
- On-call responsibilities include 1-2 nights per week and a weekend call approximately every 4-5 weekends
- Scrubs are provided, fostering a professional and hygienic work environment
