A healthcare opportunity is available for a skilled professional specializing in echocardiography to perform high-quality ultrasound imaging of the heart and great vessels in adult patients. This contract position is based in Pekin, IL, offering a chance to contribute to cardiac care through precise diagnostic imaging and technical assistance during stress testing procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct two-dimensional ultrasound studies of the heart and great vessels, identifying EKG abnormalities and arrhythmias.
- Apply age-specific knowledge when performing echocardiographic assessments.
- Utilize complementary imaging and Doppler techniques to address clinical questions effectively.
- Employ M-Mode techniques for accurate cardiac dimension measurements during the cardiac cycle.
- Evaluate valvular insufficiencies by mapping regurgitant jets with color flow Doppler.
- Assess blood flow dynamics including stenosis, regurgitation, and shunts using pulsed and continuous-wave Doppler.
- Use contrast echocardiography for enhanced imaging when standard methods are insufficient.
- Analyze ventricular systolic and diastolic function and identify wall motion abnormalities.
- Recognize a range of congenital and acquired cardiac pathologies.
- Complete studies per updated protocols, providing additional views and calculations as required.
- Correlate clinical history with exam findings and consult with cardiologists for clarity.
- Prepare and assist patients for dobutamine and exercise stress echocardiograms.
- Support cardiologists in transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) procedures.
- Maintain documentation accuracy and monitor equipment function.
- Participate in mobile echo/vascular services and callback rotations.
- Assist with functional, pharmacologic cardiolite, and echocardiographic stress testing.
- Provide assessments during patient crises and communicate promptly with physicians.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Proven experience in performing comprehensive echocardiographic imaging.
- Proficient in Doppler and contrast echocardiography techniques.
- Ability to perform and assist with stress echocardiography, including dobutamine and exercise protocols.
- Skilled in interpreting physician orders and patient assessments.
- Competency in recognizing lethal arrhythmias and responding appropriately.
- Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, pathologies, and surgical outcomes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to participate in rotation schedules and mobile service duties.
