A critical role exists for a skilled cardiac catheterization technologist to support vital procedures within the Cath Lab. This position involves preparing the lab environment, operating complex imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy and digital acquisition systems, and ensuring accurate documentation of patient information and hemodynamic data. Adherence to strict aseptic protocols and active collaboration with the healthcare team are essential components, as is serving as the radiation safety representative during X-ray use. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain major cath lab equipment; perform quality control and report issues promptly.
- Conduct daily room checks and ensure proper stocking of supplies.
- Access patient schedules for procedure preparation; configure equipment and supplies accordingly.
- Support physicians during procedures, ensuring patient safety and appropriate positioning.
- Accurately document patient data, procedure details, hemodynamic measurements, and ECG signals.
- Operate and maintain proficiency in cath lab devices including IVUS, ICE, contrast injectors, intra-aortic balloon pumps, rotational atherectomy devices, and assistive circulatory devices.
- Adhere 100% to aseptic technique; intervene to prevent breaches.
- Act as radiation safety officer during fluoroscopic and X-ray procedures.
- Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and engage in process improvements supporting excellence in patient care.
- Uphold organizational principles focused on dignity, integrity, compassion, and stewardship.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program, associate degree in healthcare, or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
- 0-1 year acute care experience preferred.
- Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (AHA only).
- Preferred certifications include RCIS, RCES, RCS, ARRT cardiac or vascular modalities, RDMS, RDCS, or RVT credentials.
- State licensure required for New Mexico: RRT or FUS by MIRTP NMED.
Schedule:
- 4 days per week, 10 hours per day.
- Call required every other weekend from Friday 4:00 PM to Monday 5:59 AM.
