Job Description

A healthcare facility in Alexandria, VA is seeking a skilled Cath Lab Technician for a 13-week contract opportunity. This role involves working in a busy cardiac catheterization lab performing a variety of advanced interventional cardiology procedures. The ideal candidate will have thorough experience in left and right heart catheterizations as well as peripheral interventions, along with proficiency in managing advanced cardiac assist devices.

Location:
Alexandria, VA offers an attractive urban-suburban blend with rich history, waterfront parks, and access to vibrant cultural scenes. It is conveniently located near the nations capital, providing diverse dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

Schedule:

  • 4x10-hour shifts (07:00 17:30)
  • 2-3 call shifts per week, including 1-2 weekends on call within a 6-week rotation

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with a wide range of cardiac catheterization procedures including coronary angiograms, PCIs, CTOs, peripherals, electrophysiology studies, pacemaker implants, TAVRs, and structural heart interventions like MitraClips and Watchman devices
  • Scrub, monitor, and perform EKGs during procedures
  • Operate specialized equipment including Impella and balloon pumps, as well as Rotablator devices
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely and safe patient care
  • Maintain procedural and equipment documentation as per protocol

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current certification as RCIS or ARRT (if ARRT, must hold an active state license; temporary licensing process accepted)
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Demonstrated skills in left heart catheterization (LHC), LHC PCI, right heart catheterization (RHC), peripherals, Impella device use, balloon pump operation, and Rotablator use
  • Experience in scrub, monitor, and EKG techniques including rhythm interpretation and vitals collection
  • Preferred experience includes circulating, IV starts, phlebotomy, Watchman procedures, ablations, and pacemaker or defibrillator device placement
