Job Description

Provide compassionate, skilled care as a Hospice Registered Nurse (RN), delivering end-of-life support to patients and families in home and residential settings. This full-time, 13-week contract role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by managing and coordinating all aspects of hospice care, ensuring patient comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

Location:
This position is based in Glen Burnie, MD, a vibrant community known for its accessibility to Baltimore and proximity to scenic waterfronts. Glen Burnie offers a blend of suburban comfort and urban convenience, with parks, shopping centers, and cultural attractions nearby, making it an attractive place to live and work.

Schedule:

  • Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
  • Occasional weekend or on-call rotations

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized hospice care plans
  • Provide skilled nursing focused on symptom management and comfort care
  • Administer medications and interventions according to physician orders and hospice protocols
  • Communicate patient condition changes promptly to the medical director and care team
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on disease progression, comfort measures, and emotional support
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to address physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation using Home Care Home Base (HCHB)
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with hospice policies and regulatory guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in the state of practice, in good standing
  • Minimum 1 year of recent hospice experience
  • Proficiency with Home Care Home Base (HCHB)
  • Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
  • Knowledge of pain management and end-of-life care principles
  • Reliable transportation with valid drivers license and auto insurance
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based role
  • Compassionate and emotionally resilient

Preferred:

  • BSN degree
  • Experience in palliative or end-of-life care settings
  • Familiarity with Medicare hospice regulations
