Empower students to access the curriculum with your expertise in assistive technology and braille support. This contract opportunity near Poway, CA seeks a dedicated professional to help transform learning experiences for students with visual impairments.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in assistive technology specific to visual impairments (screen readers, magnification software, adaptive devices)
- Strong braille skills, with experience in transcribing, reading, and creating Braille materials
- Knowledge of legal standards, accessibility, and educational best practices for students with disabilities
- Experience collaborating with special education teams, teachers, and families
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt to varying student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to students using assistive technology tools and braille resources
- Assess student needs, recommend appropriate technology, and facilitate training for students and staff
- Produce, adapt, and maintain braille and large-print instructional materials
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accessibility and inclusion in all learning environments
- Troubleshoot assistive devices and coordinate with technical support as needed
- Keep accurate records of equipment, progress, and braille material usage
