Job Description

Here at Sunbelt, as a WIC Nutritionist in Chicago, IL, you will play a crucial role in promoting and improving the nutritional well-being of clients. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing nutritional, health history, and medical data to assess dietary intake and determine risk factors.
  • Educating and counseling clients on nutrition, dietary practices, and lifestyle changes for improved health, successful pregnancy, and lactation.
  • Conducting individual and group sessions on nutrition education.
  • Prescribing food packages for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program participants.
  • Documenting and maintaining client records.
  • Providing guidance to lower-level Public Health Nutritionists and Nutrition Technicians.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Dietetics, Foods, and Nutrition, or a related field OR Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Foods, and Nutrition, or a related field plus 2 years of work experience in Public Health nutrition.
  • WIC Registered Dietitian (RD) credential by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) in the State of Illinois.
  • Preferred: WIC experience and bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participation in data aggregation and performance improvement activities.
  • Timely completion of reports to meet grant deliverables.
  • Conducting group nutrition education sessions.
