Digital Teacher of the Visually Impaired

Location: Illinois, Remote

Job Details:

  • Position Type: Full-time, Contract

  • Caseload: K-12 students with mild to moderate diagnoses
  • Duration: School year contract

Responsibilities:

As a Digital Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will:

  • Conduct virtual assessments to determine students' educational needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique requirements.
  • Provide instruction, support, and adaptive materials to visually impaired students.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including special education professionals and parents, to ensure students' success.
  • Monitor and track student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive virtual learning environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in the field of visual impairment education.

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education with an endorsement in Visual Impairments.
  • Experience working with visually impaired students, preferably in a virtual or remote setting.
  • Familiarity with conducting assessments and developing IEPs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Technologically proficient with remote teaching tools and platforms.
  • Ability to provide clear and engaging virtual instruction.
  • Illinois teaching certification or willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
