Sunbelt is looking to bring on a Public Health Nurse- RN to help support COVID operations. The ideal candidate would be flexible with their work schedule and have the ability to pass a background check and drug test. Please see more details below: 

Job Duties: 

  • Perform an initial in-person patient assessment in a timely fashion  

  • Provide patient education on TB and its treatment; coach patients on taking medications and adherence to the regimen 

  • Check medication dosages and regimens; ensuring patients have adequate supplies of appropriate medications 

  • Provide directly observed therapy/directly observed preventative therapy (DOT/DOPT) for infants and young children 

  • The nurses will be responsible for case management of an assigned group of TB patients to ensure adequate TB care. 

  • Work in the field up to 75% of the time, visiting patients in their home, at work, in healthcare setting or other locations 

  • Provide video DOT (vDOT) for assigned individuals undergoing TB treatment 

  • Contact patients at least monthly, in-person when possible, to assess for non-adherence and adverse effects of the medications 

  • Place and read TB skin tests (TSTs) 

  • Provide intramuscular injections of anti-TB medication for certain patients with multi-drug resistant TB 

  • Record clinical treatment and laboratory data in the case reporting database and program records 

  • Communicate with community healthcare providers, and Chest Clinic providers regarding patient care matters 

  • As the local TB authority, TB Program cares for patients affected by TB, especially in communities experiencing healthcare disparities. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois, supplemented by two years of work experience in ambulatory care nursing, or a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited National League for Nursing (NLN) program with a license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Job Details: 

  • Variable Hours 

  • M-F 8-4 

  • Contract ending on 12/31 with the possibility of an extension
