Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Michigan Licensed School Social Worker to join our educational institution's support team. As a School Social Worker, your primary role will be to address the diverse social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students, creating a positive and conducive learning environment. Your expertise will play a crucial role in promoting the overall well-being of students, enhancing their academic success, and fostering a healthy school community.


  1. Student Support: Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address various issues such as emotional challenges, behavioral concerns, family dynamics, and social difficulties, ensuring students' mental health needs are met.

  2. Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to respond to critical situations, such as students facing trauma, abuse, or crisis, and provide immediate support and intervention when necessary.

  3. Collaborate with School Staff: Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to address student concerns, create intervention plans, and promote a cohesive approach to student support.

  4. IEP Involvement: Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, offering insights and recommendations to support students with special needs or disabilities.

  5. Community Referrals: Identify external resources and support services in the community that can be beneficial to students and their families, facilitating referrals when necessary.

  6. Education and Prevention: Develop and implement educational programs and workshops on topics such as bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and mental health awareness to enhance the overall school climate.

  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student assessments, counseling sessions, interventions, and progress, in compliance with school policies and legal requirements.

  8. Advocacy: Advocate for students' rights and access to services, collaborating with families, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure students' needs are addressed effectively.


  1. Education: Possess a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.

  2. Licensure: Hold a valid Michigan School Social Worker License issued by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE).
