(SLI) Fully Virtual Sign Language Interpreter With Benefits School Based Role Full Time - Ohio

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities
  • Ensure that students who are deaf or hard of hearing have equal access to classroom discussions, instructions, and peer interactions
  • Work closely with teachers to understand lesson plans and educational content, adapting interpretation methods to suit the needs of individual students
  • Assist in facilitating communication during extracurricular activities, ensuring students' full participation in all aspects of school life
  • Uphold professional ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all interpreting situations

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with recognized certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Previous experience in an educational setting is advantageous
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different learning environments
  • A genuine passion for supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in their educational journey
  • Flexibility and professionalism in adapting to various interpreting situations
