Bring your expertise as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to an enriching full-time contract opportunity supporting students across multiple school sites throughout the county. This itinerant position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact with school-aged students who are blind or visually impaired. Youll enjoy a dynamic workday traveling between schools in the area, providing vital instructional support and collaborating with dedicated educational teams.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Prior experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, preferably in a school environment
- Strong understanding of adaptive curriculum, assistive technologies, and braille instruction
- Ability to manage an itinerant caseload and travel between school sites within the county
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, families, and school staff
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills to adapt strategies to meet diverse student needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to school-aged students with visual impairments across multiple locations
- Assess student needs and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and learning materials
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, families, and related service providers to support student success
- Instruct students in the use of assistive technology and other accessibility tools
- Conduct regular progress monitoring and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Advocate for accessible learning environments and resources
