Job Description

A K-12 educational opportunity is available for a dedicated professional specializing in serving students who are visually impaired. This position is based in Watsonville, CA, supporting a diverse caseload ranging from Pre-K through age 22 with varying degrees of visual impairment.

Responsibilities include providing tailored instruction and case management for students whose primary disability is visual impairment across multiple district-wide sites. The role is itinerant, requiring on-site presence and direct engagement with students to address their unique educational needs. You will collaborate closely with an Alternative Media Specialist who provides adaptive materials, Braille resources, and equipment management. Accurate development and management of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) using SIRAS software is also essential.

Key qualifications and experience:

  • Expertise in teaching students with visual impairments in K-12 settings
  • Ability to manage case loads of 20-25 students effectively
  • Proficiency in IEP development and compliance, specifically using SIRAS
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to work collaboratively with district personnel and families

Compensation for this position ranges from $36.00 to $58.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
