Job Description

A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a K-12 school setting, with consideration for part-time candidates. This contract position runs from ASAP through June 2026 and is located in the Owego and Endicott, NY areas. The role supports students with visual impairments through direct instruction and telehealth services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specialized instruction tailored to the needs of visually impaired students across K-12.
  • Utilizing telehealth platforms to provide remote support and maintain communication with students, families, and educational teams.
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff to develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching methods accordingly.
  • Participating in meetings, professional development, and ongoing training related to visual impairment education.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in a school or telehealth environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and specialized educational tools for visual impairment.
