VocoVision is seeking a qualified Digital Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our dynamic team. In this remote position, you will have the opportunity to provide specialized instruction and support to students with mild to moderate visual impairments, ensuring that they receive a quality education tailored to their unique needs.

Job Details:

Responsibilities:

As a Digital Teacher of the Visually Impaired at VocoVision, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing Virtual Instruction: Delivering engaging and effective instruction to students through virtual platforms.

  2. Assessment: Conducting assessments to evaluate students' visual impairments and educational needs.

  3. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborating with school teams to develop and implement IEPs that address students' unique learning requirements.

  4. Adaptation and Modification: Adapting and modifying curriculum materials to ensure accessibility for visually impaired students.

  5. Progress Monitoring: Tracking and reporting on students' progress and making necessary adjustments to support their learning goals.

  6. Parent and Teacher Communication: Collaborating with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.

  7. Professional Development: Staying current with best practices and advancements in the field of education for the visually impaired.

Requirements:

  • Illinois Teaching Certification: Valid teaching certification in the state of Illinois.
  • Certification in Visual Impairments: Certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with visually impaired students in an educational setting.
  • IEP Knowledge: Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and the ability to develop and implement them effectively.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency in using digital platforms for remote instruction.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Compassion: A strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of visually impaired students.
