Digital Teacher of the Visually Impaired - West Virginia (K-12)

Position Overview: As a Digital Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized educational services to K-12 students with mild to moderate visual impairments. In this remote position, you will utilize cutting-edge digital tools and technologies to deliver high-quality instruction and support, ensuring that each student receives the individualized attention they need to succeed academically and develop essential skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide online instruction to K-12 students with visual impairments, tailoring curriculum and teaching methods to individual student needs.
  • Conduct assessments to determine student needs and strengths, and develop appropriate educational plans.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Utilize digital platforms and assistive technologies to create engaging and accessible learning materials.
  • Adapt instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and adjust instruction as needed to ensure academic growth.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and training as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification in West Virginia with endorsement in Visual Impairment.
  • Proven experience working with students who have visual impairments, including those with mild to moderate diagnoses.
  • Familiarity with online education platforms and technology for remote instruction.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and IEP development.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to establish rapport with students, parents, and colleagues in a virtual environment.
