Job Description

Make a meaningful impact by supporting K-8 students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a public charter school community near Stewartville, MN. This position is designed to complement your current commitments, requiring just 10 hours per monthtypically split into two visits of 5 hours each. You will collaborate as a valuable member of the IEP team, lend your expertise during virtual staff meetings, and provide direct support to students facing severe vision challenges.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current Minnesota teaching certification with a Special Education: Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) endorsement
  • Experience working with K-8 students preferred
  • Ability to navigate virtual meetings (Zoom proficiency)
  • Strong communication and consultative skills
  • Familiarity with IEP processes and documentation
  • Comfortable managing a small, focused caseload with variable needs

Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as a TVI consultant for K-8 students with varying degrees of vision impairment
  • Participate in IEP team meetings and contribute to student planning
  • Attend staff meetings and connect with students virtually as needed
  • Accurately complete necessary paperwork and progress reports
  • Provide expert guidance to school staff on best practices for supporting visually impaired students
