Job Description

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced educator specializing in supporting students with visual impairments within a K-12 school setting. The role focuses on delivering specialized instruction tailored to the needs of visually impaired learners, helping them achieve their academic and developmental goals throughout the school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching materials to accommodate visual accessibility needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support student success
  • Utilize assistive technologies and alternative learning strategies appropriate for visually impaired students
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods accordingly
  • Conduct assessments and provide training on visual impairment awareness for staff and peers

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Strong understanding of instructional strategies and accommodations for visually impaired learners
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary educational team
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
