Job Description

A K-12 school in San Jose, CA, is seeking a dedicated and skilled teacher for the visually impaired to support students with visual disabilities throughout the school year. This contract position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on students educational experiences by providing specialized instruction and tailored learning strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
  • Deliver specialized instruction to address the academic and functional needs of visually impaired students.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Utilize assistive technology and adaptive materials to enhance learning.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Provide training and resources to school staff regarding visual impairment strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in a K-12 educational setting.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and instructional techniques for visual impairments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.

Employment Type: Contract Current School Year (CSY)
