Empower students to achieve their fullest potential by guiding and supporting visually impaired learners in a dynamic school setting near Saline, MI. We're seeking a passionate professional with specialized experience in teaching students with visual impairments to provide expert consultation and instruction on a part-time, onsite basis. Working two days per week, youll collaborate with a diverse team and serve a K-12 caseload, creating a positive and inclusive educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License
- Background in consulting and direct instruction for students with visual impairments (K-12 preferred)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with educators, families, and support staff
- Passion for fostering independence, confidence, and academic success among students
- Ability to design and adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide consultation and resources to classroom teachers, adapting lessons and materials for visually impaired students
- Deliver direct, specialized instruction to students across various age groups and needs
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized education program (IEP) goals related to visual impairment
- Recommend assistive technology and classroom modifications to enhance student participation
- Serve as an advocate and resource for families, ensuring access to appropriate services and supports
