Job Description

A full-time position is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired serving K-12 students. This role requires a valid Virginia Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VA TVI) license and focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments. The position is a contract covering maternity leave from January 5, 2026, to April 3, 2026 (tentative dates), located in Chesterfield, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Adapt and modify instructional materials to meet the needs of visually impaired students
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to support student success
  • Conduct assessments and maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Provide training and resources to staff and families about visual impairment strategies

Qualifications and Experience:

  • VA Teacher of the Visually Impaired license (required)
  • Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments preferred
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive instructional methods
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
