Job Description

Step into a dynamic and rewarding role supporting students with visual impairments in an engaging co-teaching environment near Miami, FL. This full-time contract opportunity invites you to make a meaningful difference as you split your caseload across two classroomseach with approximately 10 studentsenriching their educational experience through direct instruction and comprehensive support.

Key qualifications:

  • Valid FL DOE Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license is required
  • Experience providing direct instruction in braille and assistive technology
  • Strong ability to adapt classroom environments and curriculum for diverse visual needs
  • Skillful at collaborating with educators and supporting staff to implement effective accommodations
  • Comfortable engaging with families and providing outreach, training, and guidance on braille instruction
  • Experience maintaining client records, preparing assessments, and participating in IEP meetings

Primary responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction in braille and technology to children who are blind or visually impaired
  • Support classroom teachers in making instructional accommodations for students success
  • Adapt curriculum materials to ensure accessibility and support academic progress
  • Provide family training and facilitate connections to resources
  • Engage in IEP meetings, staff conferences, and community fairs to promote student advocacy
  • Participate in early intervention programming and childrens programs as needed
  • Maintain active professional licensure and pursue continuing education to stay current with best practices
