Job Description

A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a knowledgeable and dedicated professional specializing in education for the visually impaired. This role supports students from kindergarten through 12th grade in a K-12 school setting within Olathe, KS. The position is full-time and on-site, running on a contract basis for the complete school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to the unique needs of visually impaired students across all grade levels (K-12)
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) focusing on the development of academic and life skills
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive support for student success
  • Utilize assistive technology and adaptive materials effectively to enhance learning accessibility
  • Conduct assessments and monitor student progress regularly, adjusting teaching methods as necessary

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Kansas certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting, ideally across multiple grade levels
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum adaptations and assistive technologies for visually impaired learners
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
