Job Description

An opportunity is available for a qualified Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students in a K-12 school setting in New York, NY. This part-time position requires providing specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students as part of a contracted academic school year (CSY) role. The work will be conducted onsite, two days per week, with a caseload typical for a TVI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction tailored to the unique needs of visually impaired students K-12
  • Implement state and district educational standards for students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and related service providers to support student success
  • Conduct assessments and develop instructional materials adapted for students' visual abilities
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required

Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license
  • Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Experience or training in educating students with visual impairments preferred
  • Ability to work onsite two days per week
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Location and Scheduling:

  • Position is based onsite in New York, NY
  • Part-time commitment, approximately two days per week during the contracted school year
