Job Description

This contract role for a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired offers a meaningful opportunity near Littleton, CO, serving students from early childhood through high school. As a district-based educator, youll provide a full spectrum of vision-related instruction and interventions tailored to diverse student needs. This position begins July 31, 2026, and runs through May 26, 2027, with a consistent Monday through Friday, 35-hour-per-week schedule.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Colorado DOE certification, endorsed as Special Education Specialist Visual Impairment (ages 0-21)
  • Masters degree or higher in special education visual impairmentor equivalent as determined by the department
  • Experience serving students with a range of visual impairments, including those with additional disabilities
  • Strong skills in assessment, educational planning, and adapting curriculum
  • O&M (Orientation & Mobility) certification highly preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple school assignments within a district-based service model
  • Commitment to completing background checks and fingerprint requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and interpret vision-related and functional assessments for students birth through 21 years old
  • Develop customized IEPs and provide specialized academic instruction
  • Deliver orientation and mobility instruction in school and community settings
  • Adapt educational materials and classroom environments to maximize accessibility
  • Collaborate with families, staff, and district partners to support student success
  • Maintain detailed progress data, HR records, and compliance documentation
  • Align instructional practices with district priorities and meet all professional standards
