Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
• Orientation and Mobility Specialist credentials
• Experience developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with adaptive technology and accessible instructional materials
• Ability to assess student needs and adapt lessons for diverse abilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction in academic, adaptive, and life skills to students with visual impairments
• Assess student functional vision and orientation and mobility needs
• Develop and implement individualized instruction based on IEP goals
• Consult with classroom teachers and staff to adapt materials and curriculum
• Train students in the use of assistive technology and orientation strategies
• Monitor and document student progress, maintaining compliance with educational requirements
• Support families with resources and strategies for helping their children succeed at home and in the community
