Support students growth by working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired and Orientation and Mobility Specialist in a collaborative educational setting. Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Orientation and Mobility Specialist credentials
- Experience developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with adaptive technology and accessible instructional materials
- Ability to assess student needs and adapt lessons for diverse abilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in academic, adaptive, and life skills to students with visual impairments
- Assess student functional vision and orientation and mobility needs
- Develop and implement individualized instruction based on IEP goals
- Consult with classroom teachers and staff to adapt materials and curriculum
- Train students in the use of assistive technology and orientation strategies
- Monitor and document student progress, maintaining compliance with educational requirements
- Support families with resources and strategies for helping their children succeed at home and in the community
