Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid certification or credentials in teaching students with visual impairments
• Proficiency in Braille reading and writing; certification as a Braillist strongly preferred
• Practical experience supporting students in K-12 environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, therapists, and families
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting materials and teaching methods as required
• Translate and produce instructional materials in Braille
• Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure proper accommodations and modifications
• Conduct assessments to determine students functional vision and learning needs
• Develop and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students goals
• Support orientation and mobility training, as needed
• Maintain documentation in compliance with school and district policies
