This contract opportunity near Hopkins, MN, seeks a talented professional who is passionate about accessible learning and creative in adapting curriculum to meet individual needs. Youll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create inclusive educational environments, empowering each student to achieve their fullest potential.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
- Valid state certification/licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience teaching students with a range of visual impairments, including low vision and blindness
- Strong knowledge of adaptive technology and Braille instruction
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to adapt quickly and provide individual and group instruction in varied settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students needs and develop personalized education plans tailored to unique learning styles
- Deliver direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, self-advocacy, and independent living skills
- Consult with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Monitor and document students progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of adaptive materials and devices, and provide resources to support student access
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaborations
