Step into a vital role supporting student success for those who are blind or have low vision by contributing your specialized skills as a Braille Transcriptionist. This full-time, contract opportunity runs from mid-August through June, placing you in an engaging educational environment near Hartford, CT, where you will work collaboratively with dedicated teachers for the visually impaired.

Responsibilities:

• Convert a wide range of educational materialsincluding textbooks, exams, and handoutsinto Braille to make academic content accessible for students.
• Partner with teachers of the visually impaired (TVIs) to align materials with curriculum requirements and individual student learning objectives.
• Support one school setting focusing on secondary-aged learners at an innovative academy.
• Manage and prioritize daily transcription assignments to ensure timely delivery of resources.
• Help maintain a positive learning environment and facilitate equal academic opportunities.

Desired Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of experience operating Braille typing equipment.
• Certification as a Braille transcriber preferred.
• Knowledge of Braille code and proficiency converting varied materials efficiently.
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of an educational support team.
