Qualifications & Certifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) credentials in VA required
- Experience supporting elementary school-aged children preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to inclusivity and fostering a positive learning atmosphere
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for students, facilitating communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, peers, and staff
- Collaborate with teachers for visually impaired students and other educational professionals to ensure students needs are met
- Support classroom activities, adapting instruction and materials as necessary for student access
- Maintain confidentiality in all interactions
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed and contribute to student planning
