Qualifications & Certifications:

• Valid Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) credentials in VA required
• Experience supporting elementary school-aged children preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to inclusivity and fostering a positive learning atmosphere

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide interpreting services for students, facilitating communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, peers, and staff
• Collaborate with teachers for visually impaired students and other educational professionals to ensure students needs are met
• Support classroom activities, adapting instruction and materials as necessary for student access
• Maintain confidentiality in all interactions
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed and contribute to student planning
