Job Description

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (preferred or required by state guidelines)
  • Experience instructing K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Familiarity with adaptive technologies and Braille instruction
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Flexibility and a student-centered approach to teaching

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to visually impaired students across kindergarten through 12th grade
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to facilitate inclusive learning
  • Adapt curriculum materials and design accessible lesson plans using assistive technology
  • Assess student progress and modify instructional strategies as needed
  • Counsel students and families on academic, mobility, and daily living skills as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
