Job Description

Empower students to reach their full potential by providing specialized instruction and support as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This rewarding contract position is based near Garland, TX and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across multiple campuses from July 30, 2026, through May 28, 2027. Youll work full-time, supporting a dynamic and fluid caseload of middle and high school students as well as homebound students.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI)
  • Prior experience working with visually impaired students in K-12 settings preferred
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing caseloads and educational environments
  • Understanding of IEP development, implementation, and student progress monitoring
  • Commitment to fostering independence and accessibility for students

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative educational services to students with visual impairments across 6 campuses (itinerant model)
  • Adapt curriculum and learning materials to meet individualized needs
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families
  • Assess students functional vision needs and contribute to IEP meetings
  • Travel between school sites; provide support in-person to both in-class and homebound students
  • Promote self-advocacy and empower students to utilize assistive technology for greater independence
