Empower students to reach their full potential by providing specialized instruction and support as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This rewarding contract position is based near Garland, TX and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across multiple campuses from July 30, 2026, through May 28, 2027. Youll work full-time, supporting a dynamic and fluid caseload of middle and high school students as well as homebound students.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI)
- Prior experience working with visually impaired students in K-12 settings preferred
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing caseloads and educational environments
- Understanding of IEP development, implementation, and student progress monitoring
- Commitment to fostering independence and accessibility for students
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative educational services to students with visual impairments across 6 campuses (itinerant model)
- Adapt curriculum and learning materials to meet individualized needs
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families
- Assess students functional vision needs and contribute to IEP meetings
- Travel between school sites; provide support in-person to both in-class and homebound students
- Promote self-advocacy and empower students to utilize assistive technology for greater independence
