Job Description

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Kentucky Special Education teaching license with a Visual Impairment (VI) endorsement
  • Previous experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or Visually Impaired Teacher
  • Strong understanding of specialized instructional strategies, Braille, assistive technology, and modifications for students with visual impairments
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Passion for promoting independence and accessibility in educational settings

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction individually and in small groups for students with varying levels of visual impairment
  • Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to ensure accessibility
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in coordination with IEP teams
  • Assess students functional vision, learning needs, and technology requirements
  • Offer guidance and training to classroom teachers and staff to support inclusive practices
  • Maintain accurate records and data to demonstrate student progress and inform future planning
  • Foster an inclusive, positive, and safe learning environment
