Job Description

A school district in Elgin, IL is seeking a qualified Teacher for the Visually Impaired to join their team for the upcoming school year. This full-time, onsite position offers a contract lasting from ASAP through the end of the school year.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments
  • Developing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers, families, and other educational professionals to ensure effective learning
  • Utilizing assistive technology and adaptive materials to enhance student access to curriculum
  • Maintaining accurate records of student progress and providing regular updates to stakeholders

Qualifications and desired experience:

  • Valid Illinois Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license required
  • Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Previous experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an educational team
