Job Description

A K-12 educational setting in Morton Grove, IL, seeks a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support students across multiple schools. This contract position offers the opportunity to apply specialized skills in visual impairment to positively impact the learning experiences of children in grades K-12.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Manage a caseload averaging 700 minutes per week across 2-3 schools.
  • Collaborate with general educators, staff, and families to ensure accessible learning environments.
  • Utilize adaptive teaching strategies and assistive technology to support student achievement.
  • Conduct assessments and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with each student's goals.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments.
  • Strong knowledge of assessment tools and instructional strategies for visual impairment.
  • Ability to travel between schools within the designated region efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
