Key Qualifications:

• Current certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Deep understanding of braille, assistive technologies, and accommodations for visual impairments
• Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Ability to assess student needs and adapt lessons accordingly
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for partnering with teachers, therapists, families, and staff
• Flexible and adaptive mindset for working in diverse school environments

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students with visual impairments, from early learners through high school
• Develop and implement progress-driven instructional plans, modifying curriculum as needed
• Assess students skills and collaborate on functional and academic goals within the IEP process
• Consult with classroom teachers and staff to ensure accessible learning materials and inclusive practices
• Train and coach staff on best practices, tools, and adaptive technologies
• Support students orientation, mobility, and daily living skill development as needed
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing student evaluations
