Make a meaningful impact supporting students as an onsite Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) across multiple school districts near Dover, Pennsylvania. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to guide and empower K-12 students with visual impairments, collaborating closely with district staff from August 18, 2025 to June 1, 2026. As an itinerant teacher, youll work in various educational environments, ensuring students have the tools they need to succeed academically and socially.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current and valid Pennsylvania licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Experience teaching or supporting students ages K-12 with visual impairments
- Ability to travel between district sites as part of an itinerant role
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and students
- Creative problem-solving abilities and adaptability to meet diverse student needs
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultative services to students who are visually impaired, adapting curriculum and materials to meet individualized education plans
- Support district staff in implementing accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology
- Conduct functional vision assessments and collaborate in developing IEPs
- Travel between multiple schools within the area, ensuring continuity of support
- Offer professional development and guidance for teachers and support staff
- Maintain thorough documentation and progress monitoring in compliance with state and district requirements
